Artist: Kaws

kaws_gg

Street artist turned entrepreneur, Kaws is kind of a legend who’s now getting his due as a pop art kingpin. He’s gone from pasting up his memorable characters illegally on street corners to showing in galleries, doing album covers for Kanye West and Clipse, designing blinged out chains for Pharrell and making vinyl toys and clothing through his company OriginalFake. You can buy some of his products at his site Kawsone.

Artist: Alexandros Vasmoulakis

1_10

Alexandros is a street artist from Greece. His character based large format street art is refreshingly original. This is how he describes his work and inspiration:

“It could be defined as an attempt to link different aspects of our perceptions. Good sex and good sleep seem to be the great sources of inspiration!”

Check out more of his work on his website.

Art Star

Taking the idea of a rap battle and turning it on it’s head, Secret Wars has been holding “art battles” mostly in Europe.

Each artist is given a 20 foot mural with no prior knowledge of themes and must then put something together in their allotted 90 minutes as the crowd looks on. No sketch-books are allowed effectively ensuring that this is truly on the spot ingenuity. These images are from a battle in London.

Looks sick…

Graffiti for the disingenuous

l21225127071_3748So on facebook almost 12,000 people are fans of Brooklyn. That’s cool, but my favorite part is how you can write on “Brooklyn’s wall“.

Somehow this doesn’t have the same bad-ass implications that actually writing on a Brooklyn wall does.

Grab a can of spraypaint and go to town!

Like this ninja did…

Hi-Ya!
