Pitchfork just (somewhat prematurely) released their list of the top 500 tracks of the decade as part of their ongoing P2K: The Decade in Music series. But I guess someone had to kick off the end of the decade lists that are sure to start permeating our lives starting now. Regardless, it’s quite a feat for anyone to take on. When these things do inevitable come around, I love to turn them into playlists for my own bizarre entertainment. You see, I love lists, of any kind really. And these are my favorite kind. So I thought I’d take my playlist of Pitchfork’s top 50 tracks of the decade and put them up here. I’m sure someone will come along and put up all 500 somewhere, but that level of obsessiveness is for another fool to deal with. Enjoy.

Santigold is definitely one of the fastest rising stars in the indie/dance/hip hop game. It’s hard to pull cred in all those circles, but she’s done it. All this despite the fact that she’s had to change her name from Santogold to Santigold because of some C class DJ who’s been calling himself Santogold for some time now. A brooklyn DJ just dropped the new mixtape Southerngold which pairs Santi’s songs with verses from southern rappers. Her propper LP was one of the best albums released last year, and her colab mixtape with Diplo, Top Ranking, is easily my favorite mixtape released in a long while. All this and the countless remixes and guest spots are propelling her to the top fast.

And then there’s this amazing video from Santigold’s set at this spring’s Sasquatch festival. Be sure to watch it all the way through. “How did he do that!?”
A steady stream of leaks, remixes, and mixtapes has kept this fresh DC rapper in the (blog) headlines for over a year now. On the cover of the new GQ, they even go as far as to call him the best new rapper since Jay Z. All of this hype is leading up to his upcoming album Attention Deficit. I can’t wait til he leaks his own hot ass summer jam via his twitter, which has become his custom.
Here’s some of his latest and greatest…
