Rufus Corporation, headed by Eve Sussman is an art collective working mostly in film, photography, music and sculpture. In 2007 they debuted an 80 minute film adaptation of the Roman myth The Rape of the Sabine Women. This reinterpretation, which is free of dialogue, is set in then 1960’s and was filmed Greece and is accompanied by an epic original score by Jonathan Bepler. It was the follow up to her film 89 Seconds at Alcazar that stole the show at the 2004 Whitney Biennial. The images shown here are production stills from the 2007 film. Their current project is called White on White: A Film Noir.

Born in 1929, Kazumasa Nagai is an award winning Japanese designer who has used traditional Japanese artistic styles and values in his work throughout his long career. He communicates his messages using simplicity, elegance, texture and color. He has also been very involved in designing for environmental activism and design. I think his stuff is simply brilliant and more people should be aware of his work.
