Tramps like us…

c24379-bSo today I took a little trip out to Coney Island. It was a little cold but still a beautiful day for mid-February. On the way there I put on some Bruce Springsteen to get into the spirit of things. Seemed appropriate.

Lately we’ve been really digging throug the Springsteen catalog. There’s nary a miss through the first half of his still ongoing career. And with so many bands completely lifting his steez these days, it’s refreshing to listen to the real deal. The early stuff oozes feelings of youth and rebellion (but what good music doesn’t). It’s a far cry from the tired stuff he’s putting out today (The Rising.. Seriously?) Epic stories unwinding over the E Street Band’s bombastic, sweeping melodies.

It’s music for the living.

The albums Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ through Born in the USA will put you in a place that begs for the life of summer.

Here’s some of my favorites:

Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street?

From Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ

The E Street Shuffle

From The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle

Racing in the Street

From Darkness on the Edge of Town

Atlantic City

From Nebraska

Thunder Road

From Born to Run

As a side note, it just so happened that when we got to Coney Island today the Coney Island Polar Bear Club were warming up for their plunge. These people are absolutely insane!
